Fidelis Ruppert

Fidelis Ruppert OSB (born April 3, 1938 in Plankstadt , Baden-Württemberg , as Gerhard Ruppert ) is a Benedictine monk and author. From 1982 to 2006 he was abbot of the Münsterschwarzach Abbey in Lower Franconia.

Life

Born Gerhard Ruppert on April 3, 1938 in Plankstadt near Heidelberg, entered the monastery in 1959 after graduating from high school in Sasbach / Baden , made his perpetual profession in 1963 and was ordained a priest in 1964. He had completed his studies in Würzburg and the international religious college Sant'Anselmo in Rome and received his doctorate in theology under Alfons Auer in Würzburg.
