Denis Trautmann

Denis Trautmann (born August 15, 1972 in Querfurt ) is a former German athlete who finished 21st in the 50 km walk at the 2000 Olympic Games .

Athletic career

Denis Trautmann started with the sport at BSG Traktor Gleina. From 1989 to 1991 he started for the SC DHfK Leipzig and 1992 for the SV Gleina, from 1993 he went for the LGV Gleina .

In 1991 Denis Trautmann was German youth champion in track going both indoors and outdoors. In 1993 he was the junior champion in the 20 km walk . At the German championships in the adult class in 1992 he finished seventh over 20 km, in 1993 he was fifth. In 1994 Denis Trautmann took part in the European Indoor Championships , but did not reach the final. At the German Championships in 1995 , he took fifth place over 20 km and seventh place over 50 km. In the team competition over 20 km he won together with his brother Mike Trautmann and Markus Heft . In 1996 he finished fifth over 50 km, over 20 km the team of LGV Gleina came second. In 1997 he was fourth over 20 km and won the team title together with Mike Trautmann and Markus Heft. At the German Championships in 1998 he finished fifth over 20 km and was third over 50 km. Together with Mike Trautmann and Marino Grandi, he finished second in the team classification over 50 km. Denis Trautmann started together with Axel Noack at the European Championships in Budapest over 50 km. In contrast to Noack, Trautmann reached the finish and took eighth place in 3:49:46 h.

In 1999 Denis Trautmann took fourth place in the German championships over 20 km and second place in the team classification. At the 1999 World Championships , he started over 50 km and was disqualified. At the German Championships in 2000 Denis Trautmann won over 50 km. At the Olympic competition in Sydney he finished 21st in 3:58:14 h, his brother came in 19th place as the best German. The following year, Denis Trautmann was third in the German championships in a personal best of 1:24:17 h over 20 km, in the team classification over 20 km, LGV Gleina came second. Trautmann also started at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton and was disqualified over 50 km like two years earlier.

In 2002, Trautmann won two medals in the individual ranking at the German Championships as third over 20 km and second over 50 km. A year later he was also third in the German Championships in 2003 over 20 km. In 2004 he was again fifth over 20 km and won the team title together with his brother and Frank Putzer .

Between 1993 and 2004, the trained electrical mechanic competed in the national jersey in 18 competitions.
