Mike Trautmann

Mike Trautmann (born March 13, 1974 in Querfurt ) is a former German athlete who took 19th place in the 50 km walk at the 2000 Olympic Games .

Athletic career

Mike Trautmann started with the sport at BSG Traktor Gleina. In 1991 and 1992 he started for SV Gleina, from 1993 he went to LGV Gleina .

In 1993 Mike Trautmann took part in the Junior European Championships in San Sebastian and finished sixth in the 10,000 meter walk after he had previously become German youth champion. In 1994 and 1995 he won the German junior championships. In 1995 he also took part in the German Championships in 20 km walking and took fourth place. In the team competition, LGV Gleina won the title with brothers Mike and Denis Trautmann and Markus Heft . In 1996 and 1997 Mike Trautmann took seventh place over 20 km. In 1996 he was runner-up in the team competition, and in 1997 Denis and Mike Trautmann won the title again with Markus Heft. In 1998 , Mike Trautmann took second place in the team's 50 km event. In 1999 Mike Trautmann took sixth place in the individual competition over 20 km, while LGV Gleina took second place in the team competition.

At the German Championships in 2000 , Mike Trautmann qualified third over 50 km for the Olympic Games. At the Olympic competition in Sydney he finished 19th in 3:56:19 h and was the best German, his brother reached 21st place and Robert Ihly gave up. At the German Championships 2001 Mike Trautmann took third place over 50 km and fifth place over 20 km, in the team competition over 20 km the LGV Gleina came second. Trautmann started at the World Championships 2001 in Edmonton over 50 km and finished tenth in 3:53:25 h.

Mike Trautmann did not appear again until the German Championships in 2003 . Over 20 km he took second place behind Maik Berger , over 50 km he reached the finish second behind Andreas Erm . In 2004 he was third again over 20 km and won the team title together with his brother and Frank Putzer .

Between 1994 and 2004, the trained energy electronics technician competed in the national jersey in 16 competitions.
