Maik Berger

Maik Berger (born February 24, 1984 in Halle an der Saale ) is a German basketball coach and former player. As a 1.78-meter-tall construction player, he completed 15 games in the Bundesliga basketball for Bayer Leverkusen and was coach of the third division Citybasket Recklinghausen until spring 2017 .

Berger moved in 2003 from SV Halle to Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen . Until 2006 he played 15 games in the basketball league for the Rhinelander . In the 2006/07 season Berger played for FC Schalke 04 in the second division and in the first half of the 2007/08 season for BG Südpark Bochum in the first regional division.

In 2008/09 Berger was once again active “on Schalke”, this time in the 2. Bundesliga ProA . Between 2009 and 2012 he wore the jersey of the Hertener Löwen , with whom he was runner-up in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB in 2010 , reached the playoff quarter-finals in 2011 and the semi-finals in 2012.

In the 2012/13 season, Berger played at the end of his playing career at BSV Wulfen  in the ProB, but was relegated to the first regional league with the Münsterländer. As in Herten, he was also the team captain in Wulfen.

Trainer

He then began his coaching career in Wulfen and took over from Heimo Förster in the 2013/14 season . In his last season as BSV head coach (2015/16) you had to accept relegation to the 2nd regional league.

As of June 2016, Berger, who has an A coaching license from the German Basketball Federation , was the head coach of Citybasket Recklinghausen . He missed relegation in the ProB with the Reckling houses in the 2016/17 season and left office after the end of the season.
