Andreas Erm (born March 12, 1976 in East Berlin ) is a former German walker .
The 1995 European junior champion in the 10 km walk started at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, where he came in 24th in the 20 km walk . At the European Championships in 1998 he was fourth over the same distance.
At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, he finished fifth. At the Olympic Games in Athens , he was disqualified in a promising fifth position because of poor walking. He also retired early at the 1999 World Championships in Seville and at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton, before he achieved his greatest success at the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis with a bronze medal and a German record.
Since he last participated in the Olympics, he has suffered from muscle and hip injuries that have not been properly diagnosed for a long time. On June 10, 2008, he announced his final departure from competitive sports.
Andreas Erm is 1.84 m tall and had a competition weight of 70 kg. He began his sporting career at BSG Fortuna Biesdorf and trained with his father Siegfried Erm in various Berlin clubs ( Berlin TSC , VfL Fortuna Marzahn, SC Berlin, LAC Halensee Berlin) and at TV Friesen Naumburg until 2002 . In early 2003 he moved to SC Potsdam , where he was trained by Ronald Weigel . 1995–1997 he was German junior champion, 1998–2002 German champion in 20 km walking, in 2002 German champion in 50 km walking and 1998–2001 German indoor champion 1998–2001 in 5000 m walking.
He has a daughter (* 2006) with his wife Claudine, a former triple jumper , and lives in Berlin.
