Gerhard Sperling (athlete)
Gerhard Sperling (born November 25, 1937 in Berlin ) is a German athlete and Olympic participant who was successful as a walker in the 1960s and 1970s . The highlight of his career was the silver medal in the 20 km walk at the European Championships in 1971 (1: 27: 29.0 h).
In 1966, 1968, 1969 and 1971 he was GDR champion in 20 km walking.
Gerhard Sperling belonged to the TSC Berlin club . When he competed, he was 1.87 m tall and weighed 74 kg. Gerhard Sperling was one of the few world-class deaf athletes.
