Carsten Schmidt (walker)

Carsten Schmidt (born May 29, 1986 in Berlin ) is a German walker .

In 2003 he finished fifth in the 10,000-meter track walking at the World Youth Championships. The following year he finished fourth in the individual and team rankings at the World Cup in Naumburg, Germany. In 2005 he just missed a medal and had to be content with fourth place at the European Youth Championships and the European Cup. Despite many injuries in recent years, he was able to take part in the World Cup in 2008 and the European Cup in 2009.

In 2009 Carsten Schmidt moved from SC Potsdam to SCC Berlin and joined André Höhne's training group under the direction of Peter Selzer . In the same year he was able to book a first, second and third place in German championships, his first German championship title in the adult class was the team title over 20 kilometers together with André Höhne and Christoph Roschinsky . In 2010 he won once gold, once silver and twice bronze at German championships, and won the championship title again over 20 kilometers together with André Höhne and Maik Berger . He also won the EAA permit meeting in Bedford, England. In September 2010 he won the German championship title on his debut over the 50 kilometers . He defended this title in the following two years.

Carsten Schmidt is 1.79 m tall and has a competition weight of 60 kg. He is a police chief and is a member of the federal police's competitive sports project.
