André Höhne (born March 10, 1978 in Berlin ) is a German athletics trainer and former walker .

Life

In 1997, Höhne won the silver medal in the 10,000 m track going at the European Junior Championships . At the European Championships in 1998 André Höhne finished 23rd over 20 kilometers , at the European Championships in 2002 he was eleventh over the same distance.

When he took part in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, he was eighth in the 20 km walk. His greatest success is fourth place over 20 kilometers at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki. In 2006 he was eleventh at the European Championships . At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, he was also in fourth place until shortly before the finish line, but could not place because he collapsed in the stadium due to heat stroke . At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, he was twelfth.

At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, he crossed the finish line in fourteenth on his actual parade route (20 km). He needed 1:22:00 h and was not dissatisfied with it due to the prevailing external conditions. Six days later, he also started over the 50 km route. After he was still in 19th place at the beginning of the race, he was able to collect one opponent after the other from kilometer 30. As a reward, after 50 kilometers he was able to celebrate fifth place with tens of thousands of fans at the historic Brandenburg Gate.

In 2010, Höhne was seventh at the European Championships . At the 2012 Olympics in London, he finished eleventh.

After the Olympics, he embarked on a career as a coach. On January 1, 2017, the German Athletics Association appointed him national coach for men's long-distance running .

André Höhne is 1.85 m tall and has a competition weight of 70 kg. He started for the SG Brauereiverein Prenzlauer Berg, LG Nike Berlin (2001-2002) and the SCC Berlin . He is not related to Christoph Höhne , the Olympic champion over 50 km walking in 1968.
