German Athletics Youth Indoor Championships

The German indoor youth championships were held for the first time in 1969, the second one year later. These two events were still one-day Sunday events. From 1971 there are two-day weekend events.

Participants between the ages of 18 and 19 (short: U20 ) are entitled to start . The cohorts of birth eligible to participate will be announced in the announcement before each event.

Nowadays the organizer is the German Athletics Association (DLV) . Organizers are the regional association belonging to the venue and a sports club at the venue.

The German winter throwing championships for 16/17 year old youngsters started in 1993 and are held outdoors. At first they were held independently, then at times parallel to the indoor youth championships, and since 2003 they have been held continuously at the same time and place as the indoor U20 championships.
