The athletics hall in the arena sports park was built for around eleven million D-Marks in the North Rhine-Westphalian capital of Düsseldorf . The occasion was the Athletics World Cup in 1977 in the then neighboring Rheinstadion . The arena sports park denotes the entire sporty usable area of ​​the area belonging to the Rheinstadion, which was demolished in 2002. In 2004 the hall was renovated and modernized for more than ten million euros. It is the largest sports hall in the city and has an extendable grandstand.
