The DJK Arminia Ibbenbüren (officially: Deutsche Jugendkraft Arminia Ibbenbüren 1929 eV ) is a sports club from Ibbenbüren in the Steinfurt district . The first women's soccer team took part in the DFB Cup six times .
history
The club was founded in 1929 and belonged to the DJK Sports Association . In 1935 the association was banned and dissolved by the National Socialists . The re-establishment took place after the end of the Second World War . In addition to football, the DJK Arminia also offers fitness & walking , health sports , children's dancing , athletics , cycling , tennis and volleyball .
Women's soccer
The footballers of the DJK Arminia made it into the Association League Westphalia in 1996 . Two years later, they made the leap to the then second-rate Regionalliga West , from which the team had to relegate two years later. They rose again in 2004. The most successful years in the club's history were the 2005/06 and 2008/09 seasons, when the Ibbenbürenerinnen came third. Since relegation in 2014, the team has been competing in the fourth-class Westfalenliga .
The DJK Arminia took part in the women's DFB Cup five times. The first participation was in the 1996/97 season , when the team lost 0:10 to FC Rumeln-Kaldenhausen after a bye in the second round . A year later , the team met after another bye in round two at Bundesliga club FC Eintracht Rheine and were only barely defeated 0: 1. The team celebrated their first win in the 1998/99 season 5-0 against FTSV Lorbeer Rothenburgsort , before DJK Arminia lost 0:10 in round two against Bundesliga club SSV Turbine Potsdam .
In the last participations, the Ibbenbüren women advanced to the surprise team. The team beat in the 2008/09 season with Victoria Gersten and the FC Gütersloh 2000 first, two second division and was defeated in the second round the VfL Sindelfingen with 0: 2nd In the 2016/17 season , Arminia first prevailed against FFV Leipzig and the second division Bramfelder SV and met FC Bayern Munich in the second round , which they lost 8-0.
Men's soccer
The men's team of the DJK Arminia Ibbenbüren played from 1976 to 1979, from 1982 to 1994, in the 1997/98 season, from 2010 to 2015, from 2017 to 2019 and since 2020 in the district league. The greatest success was the third place in the 1991/92 season.
Youth football
The U-17 juniors of the DJK Arminia Ibbenbüren made it to the B-Juniorinnen-Bundesliga at the end of the 2018/19 season . This is the club's greatest sporting success. With their promotion, the U-17 girls are the first team in the Tecklenburg soccer district to play at Bundesliga level.
