Paul Frommeyer (born June 28, 1957 in Ibbenbüren ) is a German high jumper , journalist and author.

Life

Frommeyer was one of the best German high jumpers between 1975 and 1986, although the German high jump at that time also had other world-class jumpers with Carlo Thränhardt , Dietmar Mögenburg and Gerd Nagel . Therefore, despite a best performance of 2.34 m, Frommeyer never became German champion, but was runner-up in 1977 and third in 1983 . His best performance set up in 1983 and third place at the German Championships led to the nomination for the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , where he only finished 16th with a height of 2.19 m. Frommeyer initially started for DJK Arminia Ibbenbüren , then for LG Ratio Münster and finally for TV Wattenscheid 01 .

Frommeyer is 1.97 m tall and had a competition weight of 84 kg.

His best performance of 2.34 m is a Westphalian record to date (July 2016) and Frommeyer is 6th on the all-time German best list.

He has been working as a freelance journalist since retiring.

author

In 2011 Frommeyer published the novel Möller with partly autobiographical features. The book is about a track and field athlete who, as the highlight of his career , was allowed to start at the 2004 Olympic Games , but remained unsuccessful there.
