Cycling is a form of cycling that is practiced in leisure time. When cycling, the focus is on consciously experiencing the landscape and getting around , in contrast to cycling , where the focus is on reaching a destination, or cycling , where covering a certain distance, often in the shortest possible time, is the purpose of the company is.

Cycle tourism is considered to be gentle tourism that protects the environment and promotes health . It can generate significant revenue for a region. For this reason, tourist cycle paths have been designated or created in many regions ; in many places gaps in the cycle path network have been closed. Also were cycling networks created; these are networks of paths (for example, rural roads and bicycle paths ) and roads for driving on bicycles are provided.

In Germany there are currently over 200 different long-distance cycle routes, which are also popular as sections for specific cycle touring tours (as of January 2018). As the trend towards cycling continues to grow, the number of new cycling routes is also increasing steadily.

Cycling maps are often offered as a guide .
