The Erfurt Athletics Center eV , mostly Erfurt LAC for short, is a popular sports club from Erfurt . With 350 members, it is one of the clubs with the largest number of members in Thuringia . With the LAC Erfurt Top Team , the association has a high performance center for athletics in Germany, in which the national trainers of the German Athletics Association also look after training groups.

history

The Erfurt Athletics Center was founded on October 29, 1996 and was created through the merger of the departments of the Thuringian Sports Club and the Erfurt Ice Sports Club .

At the 2004 Olympic Games , Ulrike Urbansky was the first athlete to take part in the Erfurt LAC.

On October 23, 2017, the chairman of the Erfurt LAC announced that there was an agreement with TV Wattenscheid 01 to seek cooperation in the sprint youth sector in order to create a win-win situation for the promotion of athletes by using synergies .

In 2017, the Erfurt LAC took second place in the club ranking of the German Athletics Association (DLV) in the age groups U18 to U20 behind the LG Stadtwerke München and ahead of the SC Potsdam .
