Dennis Leyckes

Dennis Leyckes (born April 20, 1982 in Krefeld ) is a former German decathlete .

Life

In 2000 he won the junior world championships in the decathlon with a championship record of 7897. In 2004 he won the all- around meeting in Ratingen and took part in the Summer Olympic Games in Athens. His personal best score is 8310 points, which he achieved in June 2006 in Ratingen. In the same year he took part in the European Championships in Gothenburg. At the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham in 2007 , he was fourth.

Leyckes started for LAV Bayer Uerdingen / Dormagen (1998-2007, parent club SC Bayer 05 Uerdingen ) and Erfurt LAC (2008-2009). His father Dieter Leyckes won the silver medal of the European youth championships in 1979 in the decathlon. Dennis Leyckes married the former German athlete Ulrike Urbansky in 2008 .
