history

From 1981 ice hockey was operated by the Turn- und Sportverein (TSV) Salzgitter in Salzgitter and from 1981/82 played in the fourth-class Regional League North . The ice hockey department of TSV was outsourced to EHC Salzgitter in 1991 , which also organized the game operations in the 1990s and participated in the Regionalliga Nord again from the 1992/93 season . As part of the redistribution of the leagues through the introduction of the DEL , the EHC was divided into the third-class 2nd League North for the 1994/95 season . After a season in the - second class - 1st division north , the team rose again to the 2nd division north. During the 1996/97 season , EHC Salzgitter was withdrawn from gaming operations and later dissolved.

Already at the time of the TSV department and in addition to the EHC Salzgitter, ESG Salzgitter also took part in matches with a men's team, at times in the Regionalliga Nord.

The ESC Salzgitter , founded as the successor to the EHC , withdrew the team from the - third-class - 1st League North before the 1998/99 season . From the 1999/00 season , the FE Phantoms Salzgitter followed with participation in the - fourth class - Regionalliga Nord-Ost , which ceased operations in November 2003. In 2005 the EHC Salzgitter 05 was founded, which then took part in the Regionalliga Nord-Ost under the nickname Steelers . For the 2006/07 season, the SENF (Salzgitter Eishockey Nachwuchs Förderkreis eV) also took part with a men's team in the Lower Saxony League.

Women ice hockey

The ESG Salzgitter took in 1990 for the first time in the game operating in part, while the DEC Salzgitter came and in the following season 1991/92 this was only until the 1993rd

The ESG existed until 1998. From 1999 the women continued to play as FE Salzgitter , which ceased operations in 2003. In 2009, a new women's team was founded at SV am Salzgittersee , which takes part in the first women's league north as Dark Wings .

Salzgitter Icefighters

In June 2009, the EHC Salzgitter 05 and the youngsters ' club SENF merged to form the sports club on Salzgittersee . The senior ice hockey branch was founded at the same time as the sports club at Salzgittersee to organize the men's team. All junior teams and the women's team Dark Wings are run by the main club.

The Salzgitter Icefighters are the team of the German ice hockey club Senioreneishockey im SV am Salzgittersee , which plays in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord .

The men's team began its first season in the Regionalliga Nord in 2009 as CRE Salzgitter Icefighters, and the name has now been changed to TAG Salzgitter Icefighters. With a win, the team landed at the bottom of the table without a chance. Due to a league reform, Salzgitter played in the third-class Oberliga Nord in the 2010/11 season . The non-competitive budget left them relegated at the end of the season with a win as the bottom of the table.

In the four-tier Regionalliga Nord, the team led by coach and ex- DEL professional Radek Vít took third place in the table in the 2011/12 season . She was able to confirm this success again in the coming season with third place. In the 2013/14 season , the team missed the playoffs as fifth in the table.

The Icefighters had their best season so far in 2014/15 . As the first in the preliminary round, they moved confidently into the play-offs. In the quarterfinals, the Crocodiles Hamburg 1b were defeated in two games. In the semifinals, the team could not compensate for the 2-4 defeat in the first leg against REV Bremerhaven by a 5: 5 in the second leg.
