The Kiel seal is a replica of the seal of the city of Kiel from the second half of the 14th century. It has been given since 2006 as a token of the city's gratitude to special guests and personalities who have a special connection to the Fördestadt .

In 2006 the city and the Kiel University of Applied Sciences had a replica of the large Kiel city seal produced. The original seal was created in the first half of the 14th century as a masterpiece of medieval engraving. It was only used on special festive occasions.
