In the 2011/12 season, the Regionalliga is the fourth highest league level in German ice hockey below the top ice hockey league . The regional leagues north, west, east and south-west are played as well as the Bavarian ice hockey league .

Regionalliga North

Attendees

The Regionalliga Nord consists of 9 teams. New in the league are the relegated Salzgitter Icefighters, the champions of the Hanseliga Crocodiles Hamburg 1b, the Celler Oilers from the Hanseliga, the newly founded Grafschafter EC Ritter and the re-registered team from the EHC Wolfsburg regular team of the DEL team Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg . The defending champions REV Bremerhaven 1b, Altonaer SV Hamburg and Bremer EC 1b Pirates have voluntarily withdrawn from the league into the Landesliga Nord .

mode

The league plays a single round from early September to mid-March. The champions of the regional league can challenge the last placed in the Oberliga Nord to a promotion duel. This is played back and forth, the winner moves up to the league or remains in it. If the master waives, the right to challenge passes to the vice master.

Regionalliga West

The Regionalliga West is organized by the State Ice Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia for teams from the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia , Hesse , Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland . The composition of the league was determined at the league meeting on July 9th.

The league plays a single round. After the main round, the first four of the table with the last four of the Oberliga West play the Oberliga West Pokal for promotion to or stay in the Oberliga West, while the other teams rank among the teams in 1st to 3rd place in the NRW League Play the Regionalliga West Cup.

Regional League East

The previous Sachsenliga was renamed Regionalliga Ost. In the previous seasons, the league already included teams from Saxony, Thuringia and Berlin. The league is hosted by the Saxon Ice Sports Association .

Attendees

The composition of the league basically corresponds to the composition of the Sachsenliga in the 2010/11 season, with the exception of the team from SV Fortuna 02 Leipzig , which was no longer reported, and the team from ESV Halle, which was newly added.

mode

The participants play a single round between September 22, 2011 and February 2012. The teams in places 1 to 3 take part in the Oberliga Ost Cup of the Oberliga Ost , which also counts the regulatory round for the Oberliga Ost. The teams in 4th to 8th place take part in the Regional League Cup.

Regional league south / west

Attendees

New to the league is as a newcomer from the state league ESC Hügelsheim. After the insolvency of the professional team Wölfe Freiburg, the EHC Freiburg plays in the RL Süd-West with its first team instead of the 1b as before. The champions Stuttgart EC renounced promotion to the Oberliga Süd with the team "Stuttgart Rebels".

The league plays a one and a half times round, i.e. H. each team plays three times against each other team. After the main round, the first four teams play off the - eligible for promotion - champions in play-offs and a relegated player in play-downs.

Bayern League

The Bavarian Ice Hockey League is organized by the Bavarian Ice Sports Association . She plays two promoted players in the Oberliga Süd and two relegated teams in the Bavarian State League .

Attendees

New in the league are the newly promoted EHC 80 Nürnberg (amateur team of the home club of the Nürnberg Ice Tigers ), EA Schongau and EHC Waldkraiburg; the runner-up of the Landesliga ESV Waldkirchen waived the promotion. The champions ERC Sonthofen renounced the promotion, instead the TSV Erding rose to the Oberliga Süd. The Höchstadter EC and EV Pfronten were relegated to the state league.

As in previous years, the league plays a single round followed by an intermediate round. The first eight teams qualify for the upper intermediate round, which then play off two participants in the play-offs in two groups. The semi-finals and finals of the play-offs are played in best-of-three mode. The last eight teams of the preliminary round play in the lower intermediate round in two groups. The last two in each group then play two relegated teams in the national league .
