The ice skating department - better known under the name EA Schongau Mammuts (more precisely the ice skating department Schongau ) - operates the sport of ice hockey and the ice rink in Schongau.

Originally founded in 1951 as the Schongau ice skating club, the club joined the TSV as an ice hockey department in 1952 . In the 1968/69 season , the Bavarian State League Championship was won in Group C and was thus also qualified as a climber for the Natural Ice Bavarian League (4th division).

The EAS became Bavarian champions in 1979 and 2002 . The TSV ice hockey team played for the first time in higher-class ice hockey in the 1979/80 season in the Regionalliga Süd, from which the team rose to the major league 1980/81 and was able to receive the class there until the 1987/88 season .

When the German Ice Hockey League was introduced in the summer of 1994 , the team was divided into the 2nd South League , which the team was able to hold until the 1995/96 season . Then the team continued to play in the Bavarian Ice Sports Association in the Bavarian Ice Hockey League . There the team was Bavarian champion in the 2001/02 season and took part with the runner-up ESV Königsbrunn in the promotion round to the Regionalliga Süd , in which the representative of the Baden-Württemberg ice sports association - the EC Atlantis Ulm / Neu-Ulm  - prevailed and the Made the rise.

At the end of the 2005/06 season, the senior team rose athletically by losing in the 2nd round of the relegation playoffs against SVG Burgkirchen . In addition, it became known this season that the increased stadium operating costs are putting a heavy strain on EA Schongau's financial position. From the 2006/07 season, the senior team played in the - fifth-class - Bavarian regional league . In the 2010/11 season, the team reached fourth place in the newly introduced Landesliga Süd / West and, as a successor, managed to move up to the Bayernliga (4th division). But after a year they were relegated to the Bayernliga and played in the Landesliga Süd / West until the 2015/16 season. From 2016/17 you could surprisingly take part in the Bayernliga as a successor. Since the EC Bad Kissinger Wölfe, as the winner of the promotion relegation by the BEV, did not receive a play permit for the Bayernliga season 2017/18 , EA Schongau was able to remain in the Bayernliga despite being relegated.
