The history of ice hockey in Bad Kissingen in Lower Franconia began in 1977 when SC Bad Kissingen and its ice hockey department were founded. In the 1995/96 season, the club's men's team played in the fourth-class Bayernliga , which at that time was below the 2nd League South (third division). In 2004, the SC ice hockey team was taken over by the newly founded EC Bad Kissinger Wölfe eV, which has since operated ice hockey in Bad Kissingen.

history

SC Bad Kissingen (1977-2004)

SC Bad Kissingen and its ice hockey department were founded in 1977. From 1981 to 1990 the SC team played in the Bavarian State League. In 1990, the SCBK rose to the Bayern League, in which he could hold until the 1993/94 season. The greatest success in this section was participation in the promotion round to the regional league . After one year of the regional league, in 1995 they were promoted to the fourth-class Bayernliga , which was classified below the second division south (third division) , from which the SCB team had to leave after one year. Then the SC played until the 2003/04 season in the Bavarian State League North, where he was mostly able to earn top places.

EC Bad Kissinger Wölfe (since 2004)

In 2004 the ice hockey department of the SC became independent under the name EC Bad Kissinger Wölfe and therefore had to start over in the Bavarian District League. The first success of the Bad Kissinger Wolves was in 2006, when they won the Bavarian District League Championship and thus also achieved promotion to the Bavarian State League. After one season in the regional league, the wolves were relegated to the regional league, where they stayed until the 2010/11 season. At the end of the season, the championship of the District League North succeeded, with which the Bad Kissinger also achieved promotion to the state league. From then on, the ECB team played in the Bavarian State League until the 2016/17 season. After winning the Bavarian regional league runner-up, the team from Bad Kissingen was also able to prevail in the relegation games to the (regional league) Bayernliga against the Wanderers from Germering and thus qualified as a sporty climber for the fourth-class Bayernliga . The right of promotion could not be exercised for organizational reasons, so that the wolves will play in the BLL next season . In 2017/18 the wolves won the Bavarian state league championship and at the same time qualified for the fourth-class Bayernliga in the interlocking round. In the 2018/19 season, the team reached the interlocking round between the Bayernliga and the Oberliga as 4th in the preliminary round of the Bayernliga and thus secured relegation. After a contract for the use of the ice rink was not concluded between the operating company and the club, the club withdrew its team from the Bayern League on November 22, 2019. In 2020 the association then filed for bankruptcy.

Ice rink

The home arena of the wolves is the ice rink in Bad Kissingen, which can hold around 800 spectators.

In the 2019/2020 season, the wolves played their home games until they withdrew on November 22, 2019, due to the differences with the ice rink operator, initially in Haßfurt or Lauterbach . In December 2019 it became known that the owner of the now closed hall in Ukraine has been wanted with an arrest warrant for two and a half years.
