The ice hockey league , the third highest division in German ice hockey , will be played for the third time in four regional groups in the 2012/13 season. The game operations in the South group are organized by the German Ice Hockey Federation , the North group by the State Ice Sports Association (LEV) Lower Saxony, the West group by LEV North Rhine-Westphalia and the East group by LEV Berlin. At the end of the season, the three northern groups play a final round, before the champions and promoted players to the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga are played off in cross-group play-offs in all four major leagues .

Oberliga Nord

Definition of participants

The EC Wedemark Scorpions team was relegated from the Oberliga Nord and was replaced by the Knights Nordhorn . The Harzer Wölfe Braunlage had to file for bankruptcy and were automatically relegated from the league.

At the league conference on May 20, 2012 in Hanover, representatives of the Langenhagen Jets were also present, who expressed their interest in moving up to the top league as a replacement for the Harzer Wolves. But that was rejected again for financial reasons.

Originally the Crocodiles Hamburg wanted to withdraw from the league, but then they decided to participate. The Hanover Braves withdrew from the Oberliga Nord at the end of July.

mode

The teams first complete a double round (24 game days). The best four teams qualify for the championship round, which is played as a single round (6 game days). The three teams in places five to seven play another participant for the DEB-Pokal in a single round (6 match days) - for this the 1st from the championship round also qualifies. In both rounds, the points from the preliminary round are not taken.

Oberliga Ost

The Oberliga Ost covers the area of ​​the federal states of Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. The organizer is the Ice Sports Association Berlin.

Definition of participants

The champions of the Regionalliga Ost ETC Crimmitschau 1b renounced the promotion.

After the professional team of the Icefighters Leipzig transferred to the Leipzig ice sports club, it was long unclear whether the operating company would receive a gaming license. For a change of the parent club, a transfer of two thirds of the active members to the other club was necessary to transfer the upper league license. At the last minute, the Icefighters Leipzig reached an agreement with the old club SV Fortuna Leipzig 02 in order to create the necessary conditions to get the further right to start in the top division.

mode

The nine participating clubs will play a double round from October 3, 2012 to February 17, 2013. The first two in the table then qualify for the final round of the northern groups . The remaining seven teams will play the Cup Round East with the ETC Crimmitschau 1b from February 22, 2013 to March 28, 2013. The winner of the cup round qualifies for the DEB-Pokal 2013/14 ; in addition, the cup round serves as a relegation round. The cup round is held as a best-of-five series. Oberliga West

The Oberliga West covers the area of ​​the federal states of Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. The games are organized by the State Ice Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Definition of participants

In contrast to the previous year, the team from Krefeld is only organized by the Krefeld EV from 1981.

The EHC Netphen '08 team was relegated from the Oberliga West and was replaced by EHC Neuwied . On June 23, 2012, the composition of the league was decided.

mode

The teams will play a single round until the end of 2012.

Then the first eight teams play the four participants in the final round in a so-called final round , while the last four teams in the preliminary round play with the six best teams of the Regionalliga West in a so-called cup round to stay up.

The Oberliga Süd covers the area of ​​Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria and is played under the direction of the DEB.

Definition of participants

Since no team from the 2nd Bundesliga was relegated to the Oberliga Süd, the Erding Gladiators remained in the league despite being relegated.

In contrast, the Passau Black Hawks withdrew at the end of May 2012 despite athletic qualifications in the sixth class district league .

Newcomers from the Regionalliga Süd-West are EHC Freiburg and from the Bavarian Ice Hockey League Schweinfurt Mighty Dogs and Blue Devils Weiden .

The eleven participants play a double round from September 28, 2012 to February 24, 2013. After that, the first eight play off the four participants in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga in a best-of-seven series (qualification playoffs).
