The ice hockey league of the 1989/90 season was carried out in the form of a group south with 14 participants and a group north with 10 participants. The champions of the upper league were EV Ravensburg , who prevailed in the final with 2-0 wins against the winner of the northern group, the Grefrather EC .

mode

In the north group the preliminary round was carried out as a double round and in the south group as a single round.

After the preliminary round, the best eight teams from Group South took part in the qualification for the 2nd Bundesliga South 1990/91 , while the other teams took part in the qualification round with participants from the Regionalliga South and South-West . The fifth placed from the group north - REV Bremerhaven - decided not to participate in the qualification for the 2nd Bundesliga North 1990/91 , so that in addition to the teams in 1st to 4th place, the sixth placed also took part in this. The other teams played the qualifying round with the participants from the Regionalliga Mitte, West and Nord .

Oberliga Nord

Main round

The Oberliga Nord was played as a double round. The teams in places 1 to 4 and 6 (due to the waiver of REV Bremerhaven ) took part in the qualification for the 2nd Bundesliga North - the others in the qualifying round.
