The EV Pfronten is an ice hockey team in Pfronten in the Swabian Ostallgäu . Currently the team plays in the second highest Bavarian amateur league, the Bavarian State League South-West.
history
EV Pfronten was founded in 1949. Initially, the club played in the so-called group league , which is comparable to a regional league . In 1969 the Ostallgäuer rose to the league and played there until the 1972/73 season . With the introduction of the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga in 1973, the EV Pfronten was assigned the second highest division, in which they participated until they were relegated in 1978/79 . After four years in the league, he was promoted again, but could only hold the class for two years. Another nine years in the league followed, until it was renamed the 1st division and the 2nd division in 1994 with the introduction of the German Ice Hockey League . Both leagues were divided into the groups North and South. The teams of the Oberliga 1993/94 formed the basis for the 1st league. Since the EV Pfronten did not qualify for the first division, the team started in the second division south . The club played in the second division until the 1995/96 season , but then had to stop playing for financial reasons.
In 1997 a new team and board of directors was able to be set up, which made it into the regional league without defeat. In the 1998/99 season, the EVP was Bavarian champion in the regional league and only gave three points. For four years the EPP played with ups and downs in the Bavarian League. Many players left the club or ended their careers after the 2002/03 season. The club was relegated to the regional league. After four years of abstinence, the EVP succeeded in the 2006/07 season as a successor again in the highest Bavarian amateur class, the Bavarian League, in which the Allgäu played until relegation again in the 2010/11 season. Since the 2011/12 season the "Falcons" have been back in the Bavarian State League South-West. In 2013 the EVP became Bavarian state league champion, but did not take part in the promotion round to the Regionalliga (BYL).
