The 1973/74 season of the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga was the first season of the second-highest German ice hockey division under the Bundesliga . The champion ESV Kaufbeuren rose directly to the top division and was replaced by the Bundesliga last Augsburg EV . The last placed EV Ravensburg , however, had to relegate to the upper league, from which the EC Peiting qualified for the 2nd Bundesliga.

The last two of the Bundesliga 1972/73 and the teams in places 2 to 9 of the Oberliga 1972/73 had qualified for the new league .

mode

The league was played on a single track in the form of a double round, so that each club played two home and two away games against the other teams. The Master went straight into the Bundesliga , while the last placed in the league had to dismount and was replaced by the winner of the promotion round.
