The 1973/74 season of the ice hockey Bundesliga was the 16th season of the highest German ice hockey league . The German champion was the Berliner SC , which celebrated its 19th championship exactly 30 years after the last German championship title, at that time in a war sports community with SC Brandenburg , and two years after the promotion. The two dominant teams of the past three years, the defending champion EV Füssen and runner-up Düsseldorfer EG only ended the season in midfield. In the 2. Bundesliga had to Augsburger EV descend, he was the second-division champions ESV Kaufbeuren replaced.

The league was downgraded to ten teams after one season. New to the league was the Cologne EC, which was already represented in the Bundesliga as Cologne EK in 1969/70 .
