The German champion was EC Bad Tölz , which won its first championship and ended the winning streak of EV Füssen . mode

Compared to last year, the mode was changed in order to “tighten up” the season and to avoid unattractive encounters, such as those caused by the double round in the previous season. The eight participating teams first completed a single round, after which the best four clubs qualified for the championship round. There, the German champions were finally determined in a new single round, taking the preliminary round points with them. The other four teams contested, also taking the preliminary round points, a relegation round. The last place in the relegation round had to play for his place in the Bundesliga in a relegation game against the champions of the Oberliga .
