Ernst Köpf (born February 10, 1940 in Füssen ) is a former German ice hockey player . As the first national player of the Federal Republic of Germany , he reached the mark of 150 internationals.

Career

From 1959 Köpf played as a regular at EV Füssen , with whom he became German champion five times . In 1963 he signed a contract with the Mannheim ERC , which he revoked a little later. Other clubs were the Augsburger EV , Berliner SC , ERC Freiburg , Augsburger EV and EA Kempten . Overall, Köpf played 530 Bundesliga games and scored 361 goals in these. As a national player, Köpf played 154 games and scored 83 goals. He was an Olympian in 1964 , 1968 and 1976 , where he won a bronze medal with the national team in 1976. For this he received the Silver Laurel Leaf with the German national ice hockey team in 1976 .

Only at the age of 45 did he end his career with his home club EV Füssen in the 2nd Bundesliga. His achievements in ice hockey were honored with admission to the Hall of Fame Germany .

His son Ernst Köpf junior , born in 1968, was also a successful ice hockey player in the national ice hockey league and national team.
