Sabine Ebert
Sabine Ebert (* 1958 in Aschersleben , Halle district , GDR ) is a German journalist and novelist .
Life
Sabine Ebert grew up in Berlin . She completed her journalistic traineeship in Magdeburg and studied Latin America and linguistics in Rostock .
In her adopted home Freiberg / Saxony, she co-founded the city's first independent newspaper in 1990, and headed its editorial office for several years. From 1995 she worked as a freelancer for daily newspapers, television and radio and also published a number of non-fiction books on the history of Freiberg, including the Freiberg Yearbook (1991-2006), which summarizes the most important regional events of the year.
In 2006, Sabine Ebert's debut novel was published by Knaur-Verlag, The Secret of the Midwife , the prelude to a five-volume saga about the migrations of settlers to the East and the first silver finds in the Ore Mountains at the time of Barbarossa , with Hedwig von Meißen and the Wettin family as the main characters. There are four sequels so far. Overall, the books are said to have sold over 2.5 million times.
In 2013, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Leipzig Battle of the Nations, the novel 1813 - War Fire was published . The sequel 1815 - Blood Peace (2015) deals with the time immediately after the Battle of Nations up to the Congress of Vienna and the Battle of Waterloo .
Her novel Sword and Crown - Masters of Deception was published at the beginning of 2017 as the prelude to a series of novels about the power struggles of the individual German royal houses in the 12th century and the rise of Friedrich Barbarossa . Volume 2, Sword and Crown - The Young Falcon , was published on November 2, 2017.
All published her historical novels stood for weeks on the mirror - bestseller lists . Your books have sold 3.5 million copies so far. Some have been translated into several languages, including Polish, Czech, Hungarian and Lithuanian.
Sabine Ebert's debut novel The Secret of the Midwife was filmed (Director: Roland Suso Richter ) and broadcast on Good Friday 2016 by ARD. The material was also used for a play (director: Odette Bereska ) for the Saxony State Theater on the Rathen rock stage . The world premiere took place on June 8, 2018.
Sabine Ebert has lived in Dresden since November 2018 , after previously living in Leipzig .
