LovelyBooks reader award
The LovelyBooks Readers' Prize is a literature prize that has been awarded in various categories by members of the LovelyBooks literary network since 2009. In 2019, 48 prizes were awarded in 16 categories, 8,000 titles were nominated and 200,000 votes were cast. Despite this lively audience participation in the voting, the multiple awards in successive years are noticeable in individual categories (for example with Sebastian Fitzek , Rebecca Gablé , Kerstin Gier or Jojo Moyes ). LovelyBooks cooperates with the customer magazine Buchjournal for the award. A 1st (gold), 2nd (silver) and 3rd (bronze) prize will be awarded in each category.
The vote takes place in two rounds, namely a nomination and a voting round. In the nomination round, registered users of LovelyBooks can nominate books that have been published in German for the first time in the previous 12 months. Three books can be nominated per category. A distinction is made between main and special categories for the categories. The main categories relate to genre or genre , the special categories to medium or presentation. The special categories in 2019 were: Best Audiobook , Best Book Title , Best Book Cover and Best German-Language Debut . A title can only be nominated in one of the main categories and also in one or more special categories. In the voting round, the 35 most frequently nominated titles in each category are then put up for election. Each voter has three votes in each category.
