Cecelia Ahern (born September 30, 1981 in Dublin ) is an Irish writer , playwright , screenwriter and the daughter of the former Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern .

Life and accomplishments

Cecelia Ahern wrote comics and stories as a child. She studied journalism and media communication in Dublin. In 2004 her first novel P.S. I love you , sold in 50 countries and published in 15 languages. The rights for the film were acquired by Warner Brothers . The film, with Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler in the leading roles, had its US premiere on December 21, 2007 and was released in Germany on January 17, 2008. The film is a very free adaptation of the novel, in which not much has been taken over from the novel plot. The novel was one of the best-selling debut novels in 2004 and topped the bestseller lists for 17 weeks in the Irish press and the UK's Sunday Times .

In November 2005, her second book, Forever, may also make first place on Irish and UK sales lists; However, it lasted for only 10 weeks. The book was on the German bestseller list for 12 weeks.

Ahern has also been in the television business since 2007. The series Samantha Who? with Christina Applegate in the lead role ran in the USA from 2007 to 2009 on Network ABC . From autumn 2008 the series was also broadcast in Germany on ProSieben .

Cecelia Ahern is married to David Keoghan. She has a daughter born in 2009 and a son born in 2012. In 2019 their third child, a daughter, was born.
