Hilary Swank

Hilary Ann Swank (born July 30, 1974 in Lincoln , Nebraska ) is an American actress , film producer and two-time Oscar and Golden Globe winner.
Life
Hilary Swank was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her mother Judy Kay, b. Clough, was a secretary and dancer, her father Stephen Michael Swank was an Air National Guard officer and later a sales traveler. She has a brother (Daniel) eight years her senior. Her last name is of German origin and was originally called Schwenk. Her maternal grandmother was of Spanish and Shoshone origin. At the age of six, Swank moved with her parents from Spokane , Washington , to Bellingham , Washington.
From September 1997 to November 2007 Swank was married to Chad Lowe . The couple met at a party in 1992, and both described it as "love at first sight". On May 26, 2006, the couple filed for divorce. As of 2006, Swank was dating the nine-year-old Hollywood agent John Campisi, who was also her agent at the time. Swank and Campisi ended their relationship in the summer of 2012.
From spring 2015 Swank was in a relationship with former tennis professional Ruben Torres . They got engaged in March 2016. In June 2016, Swank broke the engagement. On August 18, 2018, she married entrepreneur Philip Schneider on the Santa Lucia Reservation in Carmel-by-the-Sea , California .
Career

Swank's first better-known films were Buffy, The Vampire Killer, and The Karate Kid IV, The Next Generation . In the youth series Beverly Hills, 90210 she played in half a season. Shortly thereafter, she got the lead role in the independent film Boys Don't Cry . This film became her first career high point, receiving a Golden Globe and an Oscar for best leading role . In the film, she played Brandon Teena . The film is based on a true story and deals with the conflict between biological and experienced, felt sex that Brandon Teena experienced. Then Swank played a number of supporting roles in smaller films such as The Gift , Insomnia , but also in the film The Core .
In 2004 she played in Million Dollar Baby by Clint Eastwood the lead. For this film Swank could win another Golden Globe Award for best actress and an Oscar for best actress . Along with Luise Rainer , Vivien Leigh and Sally Field, she is one of the few women who have been nominated several times for an Oscar for best actress and who were able to turn all nominations of this kind into a victory. She was also nominated for the Golden Globe for the television film Alice Paul - Der Weg ins Licht , which she shot under the direction of the German Katja von Garnier . One of her next films was Brian De Palma's Black Dahlia in 2006, based on the novel The Black Dahlia by James Ellroy .
On January 8, 2007, Swank received the 2,325th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .
In 2011 she starred in the title role of Betty Anne Waters , which tells the true story of a woman studying law to get her innocent life-imprisoned brother Kenny out of prison. She first worked as a producer for the film Fremd Fischen from the same year.
In October 2011, her appearance at the birthday party of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov , who is accused of serious human rights violations, drew criticism from the human rights organization Human Rights Watch, among others . Swank said he was unaware of the allegations against Kadyrov.
