action

One night somewhere in the small American town of Middleton, California: Young Cheri claims to be pregnant and wants both potential fathers, Duffy and Aaron, to have $ 500 each for an abortion, but in truth plans to run away with Jack. Aaron brings her the money and has sex with her in the cemetery. He is killed by the head of a grave figure under which he lies. Cheri wants to accuse Duffy of accidental death and therefore needs his bowling ball as a supposed murder weapon. She receives a tip from three drunk, cocky teenagers in a van that Duffy is in the supermarket where he works. He's trying to convince his colleague Buzzy to give him the money for the abortion from the cash register and make it look like a robbery. Cheri borrows his jacket to get the car keys, steals his bowling ball and leaves the keys in the car. Meanwhile, Cheri's father Frank finds Aaron's body and believes that Cheri killed Aaron. To protect her from the law, he puts the body in a car and drives it onto a bridge with a road under it. At 11:14 a.m. he drops the body from the bridge and hits Jack's windshield, who at first thinks this is a wildlife accident.

Duffy has meanwhile shot Buzzy at her request so that the attack looks believable. He meets with Cheri, who has since discovered that the body has disappeared and has forgotten the bowling ball in the cemetery. Just as Cheri crossed the street at 11:14 a.m. to get to Duffy, she was hit by the three teenagers' van. At that moment, one of the teenagers urinated out the window. At the moment of emergency braking, the window slides shut and severed his penis. Duffy runs to Cheri and fires the gun from the robbery on the escaping van. Police officer Hannagan finds him and arrests him. In the ambulance that he calls for the dead Cheri, there is the shot Buzzy, who is to identify Duffy as the robber. She confesses to the policeman who recently found the severed penis that she was involved in the alleged attack and is arrested herself.

Meanwhile, Cheri's mother Norma passes Jack's alleged game accident, calls the police chief friend who notifies the sheriff, and drives on. Jack, whose driver's license has been withdrawn for driving under the influence of alcohol, but who is again drunk, has now realized that he has run over a person, not an animal, and tries to stow the body in the trunk. He is provided by the policeman who already has Duffy and Buzzy in the car. However, all three manage to escape. Jack meets Cheri's mother, who believes he killed her daughter. He is followed by the police officer and his mother to the cemetery, where he trips over Duffy's bowling ball and is caught.

One after the other, the viewer sees only fragments of the story from the point of view of the individual persons and so gradually comes to an overall picture of the intertwined events in the course of the narrative.

Reviews

“Multi-perspective narrated episode film in the form of a black comedy as a sophisticated cinematic experimental arrangement, whose grim comedy, however, sometimes slips into dull violence. Independent cinema on the trail of successful trendsetters. "
