Benjamin "Ben" A. Foster (born October 29, 1980 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is an American actor .

Origin and career

Ben Foster was born to restaurant owners Gillian and Steven Foster. He has a brother who is four years his junior, Jon Foster , who is also an actor . Both now live in LA. His paternal grandparents were Jewish emigrants from Russia and he was raised in a Jewish way .

With four years Foster and his family moved from his native Boston in New England , Massachusetts ( East Coast ) to rural Iowa ( Midwest ), where he met 16 years ago, the high school dropped out and moved to Los Angeles. In the same year (1997) he was in the US television series Tucker James, the High School Blitz to see.

In the years that followed, Foster had mostly guest roles in various TV series before he made it to the big screen in 2001 with a leading role in the Hollywood comedy Ran an die Braut (alongside Kirsten Dunst ). After he had acted in films such as 11:14 (2003) and The Punisher (2004) - each in a supporting role -, Foster was able to land a leading role again; this time as a psychopathic hostage taker in Hostage - Kidnapped (2005) as an antagonist of Bruce Willis and Kevin Pollak . He also worked from 2003 to 2005 on the hit HBO - dramedy series Six Feet Under - Died always with a recurring role as a supporting actor.

In 2006, Foster played the flying mutant " Angel " in the Hollywood blockbuster X-Men: The Last Stand ; then next to Russell Crowe in the Western Death Train to Yuma (2007) the "Charlie Prince", Ben Wades (Crowe) right hand and deputy as the leader of Wade's band of robbers. In 2011 he played a budding professional killer in The Mechanic , as a second leading role alongside Jason Statham . In Warcraft: The Beginning , which is based on the series of games of the same name , Foster plays the magician Medivh .

Private life

Foster was in a relationship with his colleague Antje Traue until 2010 , later with Robin Wright . In June 2018, Foster married actress Laura Prepon , with whom he has had a daughter since August 2017.
