Laura Helene Prepon (born March 7, 1980 in Watchung , New Jersey ) is an American actress , voice actress and director . Her best-known roles are Donna Pinciotti in The Wild Seventies and Alex Vause in Orange Is the New Black .

Life

Laura Prepon was born in 1980 as the youngest child of Michael Prepon († 1993) and Marjorie Prepon in Watchung, New Jersey. Her father is of Russian-Jewish descent, her mother has Irish, English and German roots. She has an older brother and three older sisters. At the age of 15 she started acting and danced ballet, jazz dance and modern dance. Before becoming an actress, she modeled in Paris and Milan , among others .

From 2000 to 2007 Prepon was in a relationship with Christopher Masterson , the half-brother of her serial colleague Danny Masterson . In 2007 she confessed to membership in Scientology in an interview with Women's Health magazine . She is married to actor Ben Foster , with whom she has a daughter.
