Men at Work (English for "Men at Work") is an American sitcom that was produced from 2012 to 2014 for the television station TBS . The series can be seen in German-speaking countries since March 22, 2013 on the pay-TV channel TNT Serie .

action

The series is about Milo Foster ( Danny Masterson ), a man fresh out of his long-term relationship with his girlfriend Lisa and who has to get used to being single again. His three best friends and work colleagues Tyler, Gibbs and Neal ( Michael Cassidy , James Lesure , Adam Busch ) - the latter as the only one in a relationship with his girlfriend Amy (Meredith Hagner) - try to help him. The four friends work together on a magazine called Full Steam (in German: "Volldampf"). The magazine is owned by Amy's father.

production

The development of the series was announced by TBS in May 2011. The series was created by Breckin Meyer, who also works as executive producer alongside Jamie Tarses and Julia Franz, and the production companies, Sony Pictures Television and Fanfares Productions. On August 26, 2011, TBS ordered the pilot for Men at Work .

In September 2011, Danny Masterson , James Lesure , Adam Busch and Michael Cassidy were announced as the four leading roles.

On January 6, 2012, TBS commissioned the first season, with a total of 10 episodes, and set the premiere on May 24, 2012. Production of the first season began in April 2012.

The first season's Men at Work guest stars include Amy Smart , Julian Morris , JK Simmons , Melissa Claire Egan, Ethan Suplee , Stacy Keibler , Kathy Najimy , Josh Hopkins , Kevin Pollak , Christopher Masterson , Wilmer Valderrama , Alexandra Breckenridge , Joel David Moore , Laura Prepon , William Baldwin and Richard Riehle.

Guest stars of the second season Men at Work include Ashton Kutcher , Peri Gilpin , Sarah Wright , Stephanie Lemelin, Marsha Thomason , Mark-Paul Gosselaar , Jessica Szohr , Seth Green , JK Simmons , John Michael Higgins , Joel David Moore , Benjamin McKenzie , Bethany Joy Lenz , Maz Jobrani , Kevin Corrigan and Jason Lee .

A third season of the series, which in turn consists of ten episodes and has been broadcast since January 15, 2014, was ordered in August 2013.

In May 2014 it was announced that TBS would not order a fourth season, which brings the series to an end.

characters

Milo Foster

The series initially focuses on reporter Milo Foster. Portrayed by Danny Masterson, best known for his cast in The 70s , in which he starred alongside Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis and others. Masterson plays Milo, a man recently abandoned by his girlfriend, whose friends try to help him get back on his feet. The friends' methods sometimes go in completely different directions. After a short time, the focus on Foster is dropped and the series gives all four main characters about the same leeway.

Tyler Mitchell

Michael Cassidy plays the somewhat stuffy but stylish Tyler Mitchell among the four friends. He is a journalist for the lifestyle and entertainment sector. He is perfect for this area because he understands a lot about lifestyle in life too. Accordingly, Tyler knows what women want and plays these cards to set the right course for the opposite sex.

Gibbs

Gibbs (James Lesure) is also successful with the opposite sex. As a photographer you need an eye for the finer things in life, and that's exactly how it is with him when it comes to women. With his eloquence and his positive nature, he succeeds in attracting women.

Neal Bradford

Adam Busch plays the role of Neal and works as an accountant for Full Steam . He's the only one in the group who has a girlfriend, which doesn't make his life any easier. He's more of the shy, domestic type who likes to be comfortable in life, which contradicts the fact that his girlfriend's father is the boss of Full Steam . At the beginning of the third season, Amy separates from Neal after Neal proposed to her.

Amy Jordan

Meredith Hagner got the final lead role, playing Amy, Neal's friend, whose father is the owner of the magazine. She is a cheerful person who is actually always in a good mood. Her father is anything but enthusiastic about Neal. What is difficult for Neal is her preference for dirty talk , which he cannot do anything with.

Cast and dubbing

The German dubbing is done by the dubbing company Scalamedia in Munich. The German dialogue books are penned by Hubertus von Lerchenfeld , who also directs the dialogue .
