John Swihart

John C. Swihart (* 1964 ) is an American composer .

Life

John Swihart is the son of physicist James C. Swihart, a professor emeritus from Indiana University . He grew up in Bloomington , Indiana , as well as during his father's research vacation in Europe and Asia. Swihart became interested in music at the age of eight and later studied at Berklee College of Music . He then played for the Blue Man Group in several cities, including Boston , New York City and Las Vegas .

Although Swihart had been working as a film composer since 2002, it was the independent film Napoleon Dynamite that gave him his breakthrough. Swihart was in 2004 with a Satellite Award awarded for the best film music. Since then he has been responsible for the music of films such as I Love You Phillip Morris and Youth in Revolt as well as television series such as How I Met Your Mother and Greek .
