Greek (stylized GRΣΣK, slang for a member of a Greek-letter society ) is an American television series on the US broadcaster ABC Family . In German-speaking countries, it is broadcast by the pay TV broadcaster FOX Channel and the free TV broadcaster ProSieben . The series focuses on the student associations and their members at the fictional Cyprus-Rhodes University (CRU). Most of the characters are members of the fictional brotherhoods Kappa Tau Gamma (ΚΤΓ) or Omega Chi Delta (ΩΧΔ) or the fictional sisterhood Zeta Beta Zeta (ΖΒΖ).

production

The pilot episode of Greek aired on July 9, 2007 on ABC Family. Inventor Patrick Sean Smith developed the series without a studio contract according to his ideas of a series that he would like to see. Smith was missing an hour-long comedy series about college life.

Like many other TV series, Greek was interrupted during the 2007/2008 television writers' strike. Since only 10 episodes were completed for the first season and only later the other 12 episodes, they split the season into two parts, the first ten they called Season 1: Chapter 1 and the other twelve they called Season 1: Chapter 2. That They did the same with seasons 2 and 3, so that the second season was divided into chapter 3 and chapter 4 and season 3 into chapter 5 and chapter 6. ABC Family aired the second season from August 26, 2008 through June 15, 2009.

ABC Family aired the first ten episodes of the third season from August 31, 2009 to November 2, 2009. The other ten have aired since January 25, 2010.

On February 19, 2010, ABC Family announced that Greek would be renewed for a fourth season of ten episodes, which aired January 3 through March 7, 2011.

Chapter 1

Rusty Cartwright is new to Cyprus-Rhodes-University and looking for a suitable connection for him to cover up his nerdy character. His sister Casey Cartwright (active Zeta Beta member) isn't very enthusiastic about this idea. On the one hand because she is of the opinion that Rusty doesn't fit into a connection, on the other hand because she hasn't told anyone about him. This fact puts the sibling relationship to the test. During the performance, he meets Calvin Owens, who is also a newcomer. First, they tour the Omega-Chi-Delta Compound (the most popular brotherhood on campus). There Rusty meets Evan Chambers, who is a Fuchs major and Casey's friend. After he learns that Rusty is Casey's brother, he offers him and Calvin a place at Omega Chi. Nevertheless, the two look at other connections and end up with the Kappa-Tau-Gamma connection (the most feared brotherhood on campus). President Cappie there is Casey's ex-boyfriend and Evans enemy. Calvin and Rusty also receive an invitation from him to become a fox at Kappa Tau. Calvin chooses Omega Chi because his father is a former Omega Chi member. Rusty, however, catches Evan cheating Casey with the Senator's daughter Rebecca Logan (new Zeta Beta Fox) and therefore decides in favor of Kappa Tau.

Thanks to Rusty's very good grades, he ended up in a funding program for polymer physicists (Rusty's major) and lives in a dormitory. His roommate is the strictly religious Dale Kettlewell. At first he detested Rusty's decision to join a connection, but gradually accepted it. After Casey finds out that Evan cheated on her with her "little sister" Rebecca, Frannie (Zeta Beta President and Casey's "big sister") convinces her to stay with Evan. Casey then sleeps with Cappie in revenge. However, this remains a one-time thing. Meanwhile, the Kappa Tau House organizes one of their legendary parties, but they discover that Vesuvius no longer works. Rusty, the new Kappa-Tau-Fox, meets Jen K. (new Zeta-Beta-Fox) and together they solve this problem and the party is a complete success. The two start dating after their triumph.

Evan, who doesn't know anything about the Cappie affair, laps with Casey (gives her the initials of Omega-Chi-Delta). Ashleigh (Casey's best friend & roommate, and an active Zeta Beta member) has a long-distance relationship with her boyfriend Travis. She and Calvin become very good friends because he is always by her side. Ashleigh breaks up with Travis because he doesn't treat her well and the zeta betas advise her to do so. After a while, after Rusty, she finds out that Calvin is gay and accidentally outs him to his Omega Chi brothers. That's why Calvin drops out of the connection. During the season, Calvin and Heath (active Kappa Tau member) have an on-off relationship that no one knows about.

Since Casey is with Evan, she is nominated as an Omega Chi Sweetheart. Frannie is also lining up again after learning that she won't be able to graduate this year.

Meanwhile, Cappie tries to earn some extra money and takes part in a university psychology experiment. Its director of experiments is Rebecca Logan. At first the two don't like each other at all, but through this experiment they get a lot closer and have an on-off relationship. With an article in the newspaper about the scandals and wild celebrations of the alliances, they get in a lot of trouble from Dean Bowman and from now on they have to adhere to strict regulations. It turns out that Jen K. authored this article who is a zeta beta fox. This also tells the national Zeta Beta Association about the article and forces Frannie to resign. As a result, Casey is appointed as Zeta Beta Temporary President. In revenge, Frannie tells Evan that Casey only stayed with him because of his reputation. Then Evan breaks up with Casey and revokes her Omega-Chi-Sweetheart title. Since Rusty can no longer trust Jen K., he breaks up with her too.
