action

Nikki is an attractive womanizer who lives in Los Angeles without an apartment of her own. He's at a hip party one evening in high society. There he decides to seduce the wealthy lawyer Samantha. Samantha is clearly taken with him, she takes him home, where they sleep together. The next morning Nikki just stays there and cooks for her in the evening. He can gradually gain your trust and in return can stay in your luxurious property. Samantha increasingly takes a liking to Nikki and tries to bind him with gifts and falls in love with him. While Samantha is on a business trip in New York, Nikki throws a party on her property. He sleeps with another woman, but is caught the next morning by Samantha, who returned from New York early. At first she makes a scene for him, but even when Nikki openly admits that she does not love her and suggests that she remain friends “with certain benefits”, she succumbs to his charm and lets him continue to live in her house. In the following days he met the waitress Heather. He finds her attractive and sees her as a challenge, as his advances do not initially work with her. Nikki pretends that Heather is a wealthy man and that the property is his.

Nikki and Heather get closer. Eventually, it turns out that Nikki has been lied to by Heather a few times and that she is already engaged. Like Nikki, Heather seems to be living at the expense of the opposite sex: She uses various tricks to play something for various rich men in order to be able to enjoy a higher standard of living herself. However, Nikki cannot trust her because of her lies and throws her out of the house. Meanwhile, Samantha had a vaginal rejuvenation performed. After Nikki didn't come home that night because he was with another woman, Samantha freaks out and in her tantrum wants to put him out first, then keep him again, but Nikki ends the relationship. Nikki tries to stay with his only friend Harry and his mother, but to no avail. After all, he cannot find a place to stay and is temporarily homeless. For lack of money, Nikki is forced to sell some of his designer clothes. Nikki wants to go to a party, but the bouncers denied him entry. When he is on another attempt to seduce an elderly rich lady, he meets Heather again. He apologizes to her for the incident in Samantha's house and the two start a relationship with each other repeatedly in which they are initially happy. When Heather breaks off the engagement with the other man, she looks depressed and tries to explain to Nikki that after all, this is the man who finances their lives. She decides to travel to her fiancé one more time. When Nikki meets one of his - visibly drunk - ex-girlfriends in the supermarket, he decides to drive her home in her car. At that moment, Heather calls, hears the other woman and thinks Nikki would sleep with the girl in order to be able to finance his old life again. She hangs up. Desperate, Nikki looks for Heather's roommate, who advises him to fight over Heather. So he decides to follow Heather to New York, which he finally succeeds with the financial help of his friend Harry. He looks for her unannounced in an apartment, where he immediately proposes to her. She then confesses to him that she is already married. When her husband unexpectedly shows up, she pretends that Nikki is just a delivery man. Nikki then returns to Los Angeles, disappointed, where he takes a job as a delivery man. He also supplies Samantha, who is now with a new lover. The ending shows Nikki feeding an African bullfrog with a mouse in Harry's apartment, in which Nikki now lives.

Reviews

"[...] The Ashton Kutcher vehicle (...) also suffers from the concessions made to the American mainstream audience. For example, the older women Nikki makes happy all seem to be no older than 30, not only are they rich, but each of them is beautiful. (...) The film was shown with success at the Sundance Festival and Toy Boy is also suitable as a romantic summer comedy, as long as you don't really expect new insights into the amoral goings-on in Hollywood . “[...] But what made the British (note: David Mackenzie) get involved in the half-baked comedy 'Toy Boy'? In view of such a quality gap, one spontaneously thinks of Jon Avnet , who was once responsible for the sensitive women's drama Green Tomatoes and who, at 88 minutes and short process - Righteous Kill, only shot low-class thriller mass-produced goods. For Avnet, after all, there was an understandable incentive to work with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino . Who or what should Mackenzie use as an excuse? Ashton Kutcher? The main actor, who shouldn't be one, an indifferent script and a lot of bare skin make for boredom, the Hallam Foe connoisseur is left at a loss. "
