Jon Avnet (2014)

Jon Avnet (born November 17, 1949 in New York ; actually Jonathan Michael Avnet ) is an American film director and television and film producer .

Life

Jon Avnet began his career as a theater producer. In 1977 he founded the production company Tisch / Avnet Productions together with Steve Tisch . As a director, Avnet drew attention to himself in 1986 with the television film The Separation . In 1991 he made the movie Green Tomatoes with Kathy Bates and Mary Stuart Masterson . In 1994 Das Baumhaus was released with Elijah Wood and Kevin Costner . For this Avnet was awarded the Political Film Society Award for Peace in the same year . For Red Corner from 1997, he received the Political Film Society Award for Democracy .

Since the beginning of the 2000s, Avnet has worked primarily as a director and producer for television.

Jon Avnet has been married to artist Barbara Brody Avnet since 1975. The couple has three children, Alexandra, Jacob and Lily.
