Elijah Jordan Wood [ ɪˈlaɪdʒə ] (born January 28, 1981 in Cedar Rapids , Iowa ) is an American actor and film producer .

Life

Youth and Beginnings

Elijah Wood's parents Warren and Deborah Wood (née Krause) have been divorced since 1996. He has an older brother named Zachariah (born 1974) and a younger sister named Hannah (born October 7, 1983). Wood began working as a child model in his hometown of Cedar Rapids at the age of seven and also took piano lessons . In elementary school he took part in various school performances such as The Sound of Music and The Wizard of Oz .

After Wood appeared in several commercials, his family moved to Los Angeles to advance the son's career. He had his first appearance in 1988 in the music video Forever Your Girl by the singer Paula Abdul . In memory of the Lord of the Rings , Wood, like the rest of his fellow actors, got a tattoo on his right hip , which depicts the word nine in Elvish .
