Summer Paradise (Original title: Paradise ) is an American drama from 1991 . Directed by Mary Agnes Donoghue , who also wrote the screenplay based on the novel Le Grand Chemin by Jean-Loup Hubert .

Rosemary Young sends her ten-year-old son Willard to live with her friend Lily Reed, who is married to Ben, for the duration of the summer vacation. Lily and Ben's own son died recently, causing marital tensions. Willard befriends Billie Pike, who is the same age. He helps the reeds cope with the marital crisis.

Film-Dienst wrote that the staging of the film was "too indecisive" . Nevertheless, hereceived “above-average entertainment value” thanks to the figure drawing that tried to be consistent and the convincing representation .
Awards
Thora Birch won the Young Artist Award in 1992 . Elijah Wood and the film for Best Drama were nominated for the same award.
