Louise Latham

Johnie Louise Latham (born September 23, 1922 in Hamilton , Texas - † February 12, 2018 in Santa Barbara , California ) was an American actress .

Life

In the course of her career, Louise Latham has worked primarily in the theater, including the Arena Stage Theater in Washington, DC and on Broadway . On Broadway she played in 1956 in George Bernhard Shaw's play Major Barbara . Her first film role was only after more than 40 years, this was the same one of her most famous roles: in Marnie from Alfred Hitchcock she cherishes in the role of mother of Tippi Hedren a key to the plot, dark secret. She then took on numerous guest roles on US television until her retirement in 2000. Latham was seen in an episode of the weekly television series Alfred Hitchcock Shows , as well as in the crime series Perry Mason , Hawaii Five-Zero , Quincy , Murder is Her Hobby and in Bonanza , in the Escape Final with Dr. Kimble (1967), in Man Doesn't Have to Be , An Angel on Earth and the X-Files . In 1992 she played her last film role in the drama Love Field , after which she only took on a few television roles.

Latham, who was born into a farming family, died in Santa Barbara in February 2018 at the age of 95. She was married three times, the marriages ended in divorce.
