Hamilton is a city and the seat of the county administration of Hamilton Counties in the US state of Texas in the United States .

geography

The city is located a little east of the geographic center of Texas at the junction of US Highway 281 with Highways 22 and 36 and Farm Roads 218 and 932 in the center of the county. The place has a total area of ​​7.5 km², of which 0.2 km² is water.

history

The place was founded in 1858 and named after James Hamilton , a governor of South Carolina . The first post office was set up three years later and in 1873 the population had risen to 200.
