Haltom City is a city in Tarrant County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located on US Highway 377 , 7 km northeast of Fort Worth , central in the county in northeast Texas, is about 115 km to the north from Oklahoma and has a total area of 32.1 km², of which 0.1 km² is water .

According to the 2000 census, 39,018 people lived here in 14,922 households and 9,997 families. The population density was 1,215.9 inhabitants per km². The racial the population was composed of 76.82% White, 2.79% African American, 0.73% Native American, 7.71% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, and 9.23% other ethnic groups. About 2.61% were mixed race and 19.92% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 14,922 households, 33.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 49.4% of these were married couples living together. 12.0% were single mothers and 33.0% were non-families. 27.1% of all households were single households and 8.0% had people living there who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.19.
