Mansfield is a city in Tarrant County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located on US Highway 287 in northeast Texas, 25 km southeast of Fort Worth in the southeast of the county and has a total area of 94.6 km², of which 0.1 km² is water.
history
Ralph S. Man and Julian B. Feild , after whom the place was named, moved to the area in 1857, where they built a sawmill and the first steam-powered flour mill. Subsequent settlers took land around the mills and first named the place Mansfeild , after the two mill owners, which later became Mansfield.

According to the census in 2000 , 28,031 people lived here in 8,881 households and 7,646 families. The population density was 296.7 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 86.41% White, 4.40% African American, 0.57% Native American, 1.23% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, and 5.67% other ethnic groups. About 1.71% were mixed race and 12.75% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 8,881 households, 50.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 74.5% of these were married couples living together. 8.3% were single mothers and 13.9% were non-families. 10.9% of all households were single households and 3.2% had people living there who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.08 and the average family size was 3.32 people.
31.8% of the population were under 18 years old, 7.8% 18 to 24, 34.6% 25 to 44, 20.2% 45 to 64, and 5.7% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 102.7 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 101.1 men.
The median income for a household in the 66,764 USD , and the median income for a family 71,700 USD. Males had a median income of $ 50,084 versus $ 30,796 for females. The per capita income was $ 26,446. 4.0% of the population and 2.7% of families are below the poverty line.
