River Oaks is a city in Tarrant County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located near Fort Worth , west of the county center and has a total area of 5.2 km² with no significant water surface.
history
The place experienced a boom in 1941 when the government decided to build a factory near the city to manufacture B-24 bombers, which later became Carswell Air Force Base. From 1960 to 1980 the population grew from 2000 to over 8000 inhabitants. By reducing the size of the Air Force Base, the population fell again in the following years to 6580 in 1990.

According to the 2000 census , River Oaks had 6,985 people in 2,713 households and 1,888 families. The population density was 1355 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 84.84 percent white, 0.40 percent African American, 0.69 percent Native American, 0.77 percent Asian, 0.10 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 10.92 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; about 2.28 percent were of mixed race. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 27.23 percent of the population.
Of the 2,713 households, 33.2 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 51.3 percent of them were married couples living together. 13.3 percent were single mothers and 30.4 percent were non-families. 26.6 percent of all households were single households and 13.3 percent had people who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.11.
27.0 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 8.7 percent from 18 to 24, 29.4 percent from 25 to 44, 19.5 percent from 45 to 64, and 15.4 percent who were 65 years or older . The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 93.4 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 88.9 men.
The median income for a household in the 31,229 USD , and the median income for a family 36,396 USD. Males had a median income of $ 31,086 versus $ 21,305 for females. The per capita income was $ 16,610. 11.7 percent of the population and 9.8 percent of families are below the poverty line. Of these, 17.1 percent were children and adolescents under the age of 18 and 10.9 percent were 65 or older.
