Walter Jenni

Walter Jenni (born December 23, 1968 ) is a Swiss long-distance runner .

Originally specialized in the middle distance , he became Swiss champion in cross-country running on the short distance in 2004 and took part in the cross-country world championships of the same year, where he came 82nd.

In 2007 he finished fifth in the 100 km of Biel in his ultra marathon premiere . In the following year he won in the same place and with 6:49:44 h only stayed a good ten minutes over Peter Camenzind's course record from 1996. This also made him the first Swiss champion over 100 km. In 2009 he won again in Biel and thus also defended his Swiss championship title. In 2010 he missed Biel because of a heel operation, but returned in 2011 and won Biel and championship for the third time.

The 1.82 m tall and 70 kg heavy athlete is an electrical engineer and lives in Oberwil near Büren with his wife, the long-distance runner Mirja Jenni-Moser , and two children. He starts for TV Länggasse Bern.
