Jerzy Zieliński (cameraman)

Jerzy Karol Zieliński (born January 8, 1950 in Szczecin , Poland ) is a Polish cameraman .

Life

After graduating from the State University of Film, Television and Theater in Łódź in 1974 as a cameraman, Jerzy Zieliński initially worked in short films such as Elementarz and Sztygar na zagrodzie , before starting a feature film as a cameraman for the first time in 1979 with the sports biography Aria dla atlety by the Polish director Filip Bajon was allowed to lead. For this he then shot films like Wizja Lokalna 1901 and Limuzyna Daimler-Benz . He has also worked for many years with the Polish director Lech Majewski . It was Majewski who, after films like Dreszcze and Klucznik in 1986, took him to Hollywood for the first time with coal dust and glittery dreams .

After Zieliński took over the camera in well-known Hollywood films such as Galaxy Quest , The SpongeBob SquarePants Film and Dick and Jane , it was not until 2009 that the TV film The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler about the Polish resistance fighter Irena Sendler , for which he did one in 2010 ASC Award nomination and was therefore considered for the first time for a western television or film award.
