Lech Majewski (2019)

Lech Majewski (born August 30, 1953 in Katowice ) is a Polish film and theater director , writer , poet and painter .

Majewski studied at the Art Academy in Warsaw . In 1973 he went to the Łódź Film School , where he learned to direct. He completed this in 1977. In 1981 he emigrated to England and made his films there and, since 1982, in the USA . He later moved to Italy ( Venice ), where he still lives today, but visits his Polish homeland regularly.

He is a member of the American and European film academies and the Polish pen club .

In 2018 he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
