Albert von Schwerin came from the Vorpommern noble family von Schwerin . He was the second son of Wilhelm Ludwig von Schwerin, Herr auf Hohenbrünzow, Janow, Landskron, Neuendorf, Bartow and Strehlow, and his wife Caroline Albertine, nee. of Zieten .

Founded in 1852, Fideikommiss Wustrau in Ruppiner Land, owned by the Lords and later Counts of Zieten since 1590, was passed on to his niece, Schwerin's mother and husband, in 1854 - after the death of Count Friedrich von Zieten. In 1858 their second son Albert - after the death of his older brother Henning - became majorate master at Wustrau with Albertinenhof.

Schwerin was raised to the Prussian count status in Baden-Baden on September 14, 1859 - according to the law of the first birth ( primogeniture ) from each noble marriage - with the name and coat of arms association "Zieten-Schwerin". However , only the respective owner of Fideikommiss Wustrau with Albertinenhof inherited this birthright title at the same time as the ownership took place. The descendants who did not come to Fideikommiss continued to have the name and coat of arms "von Schwerin".

Zieten-Schwerin married on June 26, 1861 in Mitau ( Semgallen , Latvia ) Constance Baronesse von Derschau (born January 16, 1838 in Autzenbach , Kurland , Latvia; † July 3, 1914 at Gut Wustrau ), the daughter of the landowner Ludwig Baron von Derschau , landlord of Sehmen , and the Jeanette Baroness von Medem .

Zieten-Schwerin joined the Prussian army in 1854 and was a royal Prussian lieutenant . In 1858 he became entails commissioner of the Wustrau estate. He then worked in several ecclesiastical and social offices (including the Jerusalem Association ) and in 1885 foreman of the Order of St. John , whose honorary commander he later became. From 1874 to 1918 he was a member of the Prussian mansion and from 1884 also a member of the Prussian State Council and the Evangelical Church Building Association of Empress Auguste Victorias .
